Several significant changes have been made by Companies House that businesses need to consider.
Firstly, ID verification checks will become mandatory for business owners, directors and persons of significant control from 18 November 2025. Individuals registered on Companies House have one year from this date to complete an online digital identity check. Newly-registered organisations will be required to complete the ID check at the time of registration.

From February 2026, Companies House will also be sharply increasing the fees it charges for business services. For example, online and paper filing costs will rise substantially, as well as the costs incurred with incorporation.
A statement from Companies House says the fee increases are necessary ‘to enhance its technology and support the Insolvency Service with investigations and enforcement activity.’
