A third of all pension tax breaches in 2019/20 were by NHS pension scheme members exceeding the annual allowance.
Recent data shows that at least 34 per cent of individuals breaching the annual tax-free pension savings limit were members of the NHS pension. The total value of pension contributions reported as exceeding the annual allowance in that tax year was £949m – an increase from £819m in 2018/19.
